Labiaplasty, also referred to as vaginal rejuvenation, is a cosmetic procedure designed to adjust the size and shape of the labia. For many women, enlarged or asymmetrical labia can be embarrassing and even uncomfortable at times. At The Lotus Clinic, our fellowship-trained plastic surgeon, Dr. Chandra Patel, offers multiple labiaplasty techniques that can improve the contour of both the labia minora (inner labia) and the labia majora (outer labia). Through customised treatment and surgical precision, Dr. Patel can help you effectively achieve your cosmetic goals while enabling you to feel more comfortable and less self-conscious.

Benefits of Labiaplasty
Enlarged labia are common among women. In many instances their size and contour can make it uncomfortable to wear certain articles of clothing and even painful to participate in physical activities. A labiaplasty procedure can effectively reduce the size and improve both the shape and symmetry of your labia minora and majora. By recontouring your labia based on your particular needs, Dr. Patel can enable you to comfortably wear a greater assortment of clothing and help you experience less discomfort during physical activities such as exercise and sexual intimacy. Additionally, the procedure can be performed relatively quickly and downtime is generally minimal.
The Labiaplasty Procedure
At The Lotus Clinic, Dr. Patel offers two different labiaplasty techniques as well as clitoral hood reduction. Below is a brief description of each procedure.
- Labia Minora – This technique refers to the reshaping of the inner lips of the vagina. Excess tissue surrounding the vaginal opening will be removed, and any scarring is generally well-concealed.
- Labia Majora – This technique refers to the recontouring of the outer lips of the vagina. Excess tissue on the outer folds of the vagina will be removed, and scarring will typically be well-hidden.
- Clitoral Hood Reduction – This procedure is used to reduce excess skin covering the clitoris and can be performing in combination with either labiaplasty technique.
During your private consultation, Dr. Patel will help you determine which technique or combination of techniques will most effectively help you achieve your goals.
Recovery from Labiaplasty
Recovery and downtime from labiaplasty will vary between individuals. Bruising and swelling in the days following your procedure is normal, and any discomfort can be alleviated with medication. You can typically expect to return to your normal daily routines after about one week, but Dr. Patel recommends that you avoid physical and sexual activity for at least four to six weeks. He also suggests that you refrain from wearing tight clothing until discomfort and swelling has subsided.
